Why we exist

Eldercare Robotics began with a family’s own experience of caring for a parent living with dementia, and with a feeling many caregivers know by heart: the ache of not being able to be there. You cannot be in two places at once. You cannot stay awake around the clock. And still, you worry, from the office, from across town, from the middle of the night, about whether the person you love is okay right now.

We started from a simple belief: no one should have to leave a loved one alone just because they can’t be in the room. Distance shouldn’t mean disconnection. A person who needs a little support, whether they are aging, living with dementia, or living with an intellectual or developmental disability, still deserves independence, dignity, and a familiar presence nearby. And the people who care for them deserve a way to stay connected without being pulled apart.

Luka Bear grew from that belief. It is an in-room assistive companion paired with a Caregiver Companion App, so that an approved family member or care-team member can support a person’s routine, connection, and independence from wherever they are, and check in gently instead of guessing. Remote presence doesn’t replace being there. It simply means the distance feels a little shorter, and no one has to feel quite so alone in it.

Every capability in Luka comes from a real caregiving need, not a feature list. That is how we build, and it is why we describe what Luka does in plain, honest, everyday terms.
