Luka is assistive and enabling technology used within Remote Supports programs — an in-room assistive companion plus a Caregiver App that lets an approved person support someone remotely, so they can live more independently at home with fewer on-site staff hours.
What Remote Supports means with Luka
Remote Supports — sometimes called Enabling Technology — is technology-enabled support that reduces the need for on-site staff every hour while increasing a person’s independence. With Luka, a remote support person (a family member, a care team, or a Remote Supports professional) can see the room, speak through Luka in a familiar voice, prompt daily routines, and check in from anywhere. If the person asks Luka for help while it is in Active mode, that supporter gets a phone call. Luka keeps the individual connected to the people and routines they value, without requiring someone to be physically present at every moment.

Remote presence
An approved supporter can see the room, speak, and offer comfort from anywhere. If the person asks Luka for help, the supporter gets a phone call.

Profiles, prompts, voices, and quiet hours are set up per person and can be adjusted at any time to match how each individual likes to be supported.

Luka is a device plus companion plus app layer. It complements existing Remote Supports services rather than replacing the team and services already in place.
